Orono residents asked to practise additional water conservation

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to advise residents and businesses that water conservation measures will be in effect for municipal water supply users in Orono.

When: Now until August 15. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where: Orono, in the Municipality of Clarington.

Why: To conduct maintenance on the Orono water tower. The water conservation measures are necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergencies, including fire protection.

Note: All municipal water supply customers in Orono are asked to practice water conservation measures and discontinue all non-essential outdoor water use—for example, cleaning driveways or decks, or washing cars.

Special efforts are being made to maintain normal water service during this program, however, some customers may experience water pressure fluctuations. While the work is underway, select hydrants may discharge or spout water, this is done to help control water pressure in the system.
