Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham, in partnership with local area municipalities and community partners, invites residents, commuters, students and workplaces to celebrate Bike Month this June by taking part in a series of fun and educational cycling activities throughout the region.

When: From June 1 to 30.

Where: Visit durham.ca/BikeMonth to register and participate in a series of interactive and fun local activities including the Bicycle Friendly Business Challenge, Smart Commute Bicycle Trip Logging Contest, and weekly bike webinars.

Why: Bike Month is a month-long celebration of cycling across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area that brings together residents, workplaces, schools, and community organizations to ride, learn, and connect through local events and initiatives. It promotes cycling as a healthy, affordable, and sustainable transportation choice, helping people improve their well-being, reduce their environmental impact, and support local communities.

Throughout June, participants are encouraged to ride more often, log their trips, take part in contests and challenges, and attend webinars on topics like cycling safety, infrastructure, and active transportation. By making the choice to bike, even for short trips, cyclists can save money, reduce emissions, and contribute to a cleaner, more connected future.

Note: Residents can participate in activities for a chance to win prizes through several Bike Month activities. For more information visit durham.ca/BikeMonth.
