Region of Durham invests nearly $500k to help reduce local poverty
Whitby, Ontario – To help reduce poverty, address social inequalities, promote wellness and support communities to thrive, Regional Council approved nearly $500,000 in funding for local non-profit organizations.
This investment comes via the Thriving Communities Fund, within the Community Social Investment Program (CSIP). Organizations will use this funding for operational and/or capacity-building activities that will strengthen their ability to deliver programs and services to residents.
The following organizations are recipients of this year’s Thriving Communities Fund:
- Ajax Public Library
- Back Door Mission
- Club Optimiste Francophone de Durham
- Community Living Ajax-Pickering and Whitby
- Durham Alliance Outreach
- Durham Black Educators’ Network
- Durham Outlook for the Needy
- Ignite Durham Learning Foundation
- Melly’s Workplace, Market + Café
- Uxbridge Youth Centre
- We Grow Food
