Temporary closure of pedestrian tunnel on Bowmanville Avenue in Clarington

Clarington, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming temporary pedestrian tunnel closure on Bowmanville Avenue in the community of Bowmanville, Municipality of Clarington.

Where: Bowmanville Avenue, between Waverly Road and Hartwell Avenue, in Bowmanville.  

When: July 21 to August 5. Unfavourable weather conditions may affect the work schedule.

Why: The temporary closure of the pedestrian tunnel is part of the Bowmanville Avenue reconstruction project. Learn more at www.durham.ca/BowmanvilleAvenueWidening.

Note: Pedestrian tunnel signs are posted in advance of the closure.

Businesses in the area will remain open throughout construction. Durham Region offers a helpful overview of what businesses can expect during construction, including tips on how to minimize the inconvenience to their business, at durham.ca/OpenForBusiness.

The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
