Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions on Thickson Road South (Regional Road 26) in the Town of Whitby.
When: April 13 to 22. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Where: Lane restrictions will be in place on Thickson Road South, from Victoria Street East (Regional Road 22) to Wentworth Street (Regional Road 60), in the Town of Whitby.
Why: To safely replace watermain valves.

Spring battery collection from April 20 to 24

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is asking residents to participate in our annual spring curbside battery collection by placing used household batteries in a clear, sealable plastic bag and setting the bag on top of their closed green bin during the week of April 20.
Where: Households across Durham Region who currently receive curbside collection services.
When: Spring battery collection occurs from April 20 to 24 on green bin collection days.
Why: Batteries are not garbage – up to 92 per cent...
Durham Region wins Good Roads’ Municipal Paving Project of the Year Award

Whitby, Ontario – At the recent Good Roads Conference, Durham Region, in partnership with Road Surface Recycling Limited, won the 2025 Good Roads’ Municipal Paving Project of the Year Award for our pilot project for road rehabilitation using Hot-In-Place Recycling (HIR) technology. The project was completed along four kilometres of Shirley Road (Regional Road 19) in the Township of Scugog and 4.2 kilometres of Regional Highway 2 in the Municipality of Clarington.
