Durham Accessibility Conference explores best practices in building a more accessible region

Whitby, Ontario – Abilities Centre, in partnership with The Region of Durham, invites you to attend the Durham Accessibility Conference.
When: May 28, 2025, in-person from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and virtual from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is required. To register, visit Eventbrite. Please register by May 22.

Health Department begins 2025 West Nile virus surveillance program

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department will begin West Nile virus (WNV) surveillance and control program for the 2025 season on May 12. This program includes adult mosquito trapping to test for WNV, surveillance for larval mosquito activity, and administering larvicide in catch basins and surface water sites throughout Durham Region.

Update: The Regional Municipality of Durham advises residents that the Durham Waste Management Facility in Scugog has reopened.

Ongoing: The Regional Municipality of Durham advises residents that due to a prolonged power outage, The Durham Waste Management Facility in Brock remains closed until further notice.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham advises residents that due to an ongoing power outage the following service disruptions have occurred:
- The Durham Waste Management Facility in Brock remains closed until further notice due to a power outage. The site will reopen once power is restored.
- The Durham Waste Management Facility in Scugog has now reopened after being closed due to a power outage.
