Does your water meter need replacement? You may receive a notice

On behalf of The Regional Municipality of Durham, Neptune Technology Group will be scheduling appointments with property owners whose water meters need replacement.

You may receive a notice from now until the replacement program is completed.

These appointments are to upgrade existing water meters and update user accounts, allowing the Region of Durham to conduct remote readings.

Neptune will attempt to contact the property owner via letter and by phone regarding planned water meter replacement.

Lane restrictions on Dundas Street West in the Town of Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Dundas Street West in the Town of Whitby.

When: June 26 to 29. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

Where: Lane restrictions will be in place daily on Dundas Street West, between Jeffery Street and Wellington Street, in the Town of Whitby.

Why: The lane restrictions will be in place to allow for a site servicing project. The south sidewalk will also be closed during this time.

Durham Region Weekly Beach Report

Whitby, Ontario - Throughout the summer, Durham Region Health Department conducts weekly bacteriological water tests to determine if beaches are safe for swimming. The Public Health Ontario Laboratory in Peterborough tests the water samples.

Test results for the week of June 19 indicate that three public beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario – On June 17, the Durham Region community came together for the annual Youth Pride Durham celebration at Durham Region Headquarters.  

Led by Durham Children's Aid Society and hosted by the Region of Durham, this year's event was a success due in large part to the partnership and collaboration from the Durham District School Board, Durham Regional Police Service, and the Durham Children's Aid Foundation in affiliation with Pride Durham, North Pride Durham and Toronto Pride.
