Road closure on Lake Ridge Road

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in co-operation with the City of Pickering, Town of Whitby, and townships of Scugog and Uxbridge, is rehabilitating Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23). As part of the construction, a portion of Lake Ridge Road will be closed temporarily.
When: The closure will be from September 9 at approximately 7 p.m. to September 12 at approximately 6 a.m. Road reconstruction work is ongoing on Lake Ridge Road until September 2023.

With Durham Region students back to school, road users must remember to keep safety top of mind in school zones.
Drivers need to slow down, stay focused, and watch for cyclists and pedestrians; and pedestrians must ensure they always cross the road at a designated crossing or signalized intersection. Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Thickson Road (Regional Road 26) in the Town of Whitby.
When: September 6 to October 21. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Health Department reports additional West Nile virus positive mosquitoes

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department has received notification of more adult mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV) with positive mosquitoes reported from three trap sites.
