Region of Durham puts emergency plans to the test

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham tested its ability to respond to a large-scale disaster during an emergency exercise held May 22.
More than 100 people took part in the exercise, which simulated serious health, safety and infrastructure impacts caused by a plane crash close to a local water plant.

Whitby, Ont. – On Friday, May 17, Metrolinx hosted a briefing with municipal representatives—from Durham Region, Clarington, Oshawa and Whitby—to discuss four options now being proposed by Metrolinx for the GO Lakeshore East Extension (GO train service, from Oshawa into Bowmanville).
During this meeting, all four municipalities confirmed their preference for Option 1, which extends GO train service to north of Highway 401 in Oshawa and Clarington.
