Notice of Region of Durham 2020 Budget Open Houses

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is hosting two Budget Open Houses to provide community members an opportunity to learn more about the Region’s Property Tax Supported Business Plans and Budgets, to gain an increased understanding of the Region’s programs and services and to provide their input on priorities for 2020.

Residents asked not to leave blue boxes and green bins out overnight during strong winds

Whitby, Ontario – Due to potential strong winds in the weather forecast, The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is asking residents not to leave blue boxes and green bins out overnight in order to reduce wind-blown litter in our communities.
When: October 31 and November 1, and all year round when windy weather is expected.
Where: Households across Durham Region who currently receive curbside collection services.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents of lane restrictions on Wilson Road (Regional Road 35), in the City of Oshawa.
When: Beginning the week of October 28, for eight weeks. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Wilson Road, from Attersley Drive to Beatrice Street, in Oshawa.
Why: Construction of a multi-use path and minor bridge rehabilitation.

Recycle your batteries during the week of November 4

Whitby, Ontario – With the upcoming time change and local fire departments’ promotion of changing batteries in smoke alarms, Durham Region’s Works Department is reminding residents to place their used or unwanted batteries out for recycling on their collection day during the week of November 4.
When: Fall battery collection occurs the week of November 4 on blue box collection days.

Lane restrictions on Ritson Road in Oshawa

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents of lane restrictions on Ritson Road (Regional Road 16) in Oshawa.
When: October 28 to November 29.
Where: Northbound and southbound on Ritson Road, from 100 metres south of Conlin Road to 200 metres south of Conlin Road, in the City of Oshawa.
Why: To facilitate the construction of a new pedestrian crossing for Kedron Public School.
