Sanitary sewage forcemain repair

The Region of Durham has dispatched crews to repair two sanitary sewage forcemain (pressurized pipe) breaks that occurred at Michael Boulevard Sanitary Sewage Pumping Station in the Town of Whitby. Specialized equipment is working to divert sanitary sewage on site; however, some sewage may reach Lynde Creek or the green space around it. Staff are working diligently to minimize any impacts. The timeline for completion of the repairs is unknown at this time.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is partnering with the City of Oshawa, Town of Whitby, City of Pickering, Town of Ajax and the Township of Scugog to offer free exchanges of damaged blue boxes and green bins at three physically distanced events.

Blue Maple Sewage Pumping Station in Ajax, Night Work

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be performing maintenance at the Blue Maple Sewage Pumping Station, located at 41 Mayor Crescent in Ajax, on Wednesday, July 22. The station will be shut down for approximately five hours, beginning at approximately 11 p.m.
The Region’s contractor, W.A. Stephenson, must perform the maintenance work at night when our sewage flows are at their lowest. During the work, crews may need to perform bypass pumping, requiring a diesel pump and trucks to be on site...
New All-Way Stop Notification: Brock Street and Watson Street, Town of Whitby

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be implementing an all-way stop at Brock Street (Regional Highway 12) and Watson Street in the Town of Whitby. This improvement will require all drivers in each direction to stop their vehicle before entering the intersection, and yield to both pedestrians in the crosswalk and any traffic in or approaching the intersection. This enhancement will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians by providing a controlled crossing.
