Durham Region Health Department weekly beach report

Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of June 10 indicate that one public beach is posted as unsafe for swimming. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

The Health Department reminds the public not to swim in beach water for at least 48 hours after heavy rainfall, as bacteria levels can increase due to run-off.

Upcoming lane restrictions on Regional Highway 2 in Courtice

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions on Regional Highway 2, in the Municipality of Clarington’s community of Courtice.

When: July 2 to July 12. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where:  Eastbound lane restrictions on Regional Highway 2 from 180 metres east of Sandringham Drive to 250 metres east of Sandringham Drive, in Courtice.

Why: To safely install water and storm services to support new development.
