Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and we are inviting students enrolled in Grades 5 and 10 to learn more about the region we call home by becoming Chair for a Day.
Who: Students enrolled in Grade 5 and students who have taken, or are currently enrolled in, Grade 10 Civics and Careers classes. Students must live in Durham Region and have written consent from a parent or legal guardian to enter.

Cochrane Street Bridge Project wins Good Roads’ Municipal Concrete Award

The Region of Durham’s Cochrane Street Bridge Replacement Project was recently awarded Good Roads’ 2023 Municipal Concrete Award.
The Cochrane Street Bridge in the Town of Whitby crosses over the busy Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Rail. Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of upcoming road closures on Reach Street and Sandford Road in the townships of Scugog and Uxbridge.
When: May 15 until mid-November. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Reach Street, between Highway 12/7 and Marsh Hill Road, in the Township of Scugog; and on Sandford Road, between Concession Road 2 and Concession Road 3, in the Township of Uxbridge.
