Whitby, Ontario – When the holidays are over, Durham Region will provide its annual curbside collection of natural Christmas trees. Natural Christmas trees will be composted with leaf and yard waste.
When and where:
- Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge: Natural Christmas tree collection will be on regular collection days during the weeks of January 5 and 12 only.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Thickson Road North from Crawford Street to Dundas Street East in the Town of Whitby due to a watermain break.
When: Currently ongoing and will be in effect until the watermain repairs are completed.
Where: The southbound lane on Thickson Road North will be closed from Crawforth Street to Dundas Street East to maintain the flow of traffic.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of a road closure on Athol Street East in the City of Oshawa due to a watermain break.
When: The road closure will take effect December 14, 2025, and will be in effect until the repairs are completed.
Where: The watermain has been isolated on Athol Street East in Oshawa. The affected area extends roughly 100 metres east of Charles Street.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Dundas Street East in the Town of Whitby due to a watermain break.
When: Currently ongoing and will be in effect until the watermain repairs are completed.

Durham Region secures funding for Climate Adaptation Plan update

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region has secured $140,000 in funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund, under the Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation program. This funding will support a 10-year strategic update to the Durham Community Climate Adaptation Plan (DCCAP), originally approved by Regional Council in 2016.
