Third annual update on comprehensive housing plan now available

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham released the 2017 Annual Report for At Home in Durham, the Durham Housing Plan 2014-2024. At Home in Durham is a comprehensive 10-year plan to address housing and homelessness in our region, and focuses on four key goals: End Homelessness in Durham, Affordable Housing for Everyone, Greater Housing Choice, and Strong and Vibrant Neighbourhoods.

Durham Region receives additional funding to support access to affordable child care

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has received more than $4 million in provincial funding from the Ministry of Education to increase access to affordable licensed child care spaces, support new child care fee subsidies, and reduce fee subsidy waiting lists, as part of the provincial Child Care Expansion Plan.

Durham Region seeks municipal member for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA)

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is seeking applications from individuals residing in the Region—who are interested in being nominated—to serve as Durham’s municipal member on the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) Board of Directors.

There is an opening for one new director; the position will commence in October of 2017. This individual will serve until May 2018, followed by possible renewal terms of up to three years each (nine years total).

Donate household items to charity at Reuse Days

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is encouraging residents to drop off reusable items, free of charge, at Reuse Days. The items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStores (Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge locations), Diabetes Canada and the Salvation Army Thrift Store.

When: Saturday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
