Durham Region’s Agricultural Strategy (2019 to 2024) open for public input
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is currently updating the Region of Durham Agricultural Strategy 2013 to 2018 for the next five years (2019 to 2024) to ensure Durham’s agricultural program reflects the changing and diverse agriculture sector. Input on the updated strategy will help to shape key priorities for the Region’s economic development programs to support the continued success of the region’s agriculture and agri-food sectors over the next five years.
What: The Agricultural Strategy provides the vision and principles required to support the vitality of the region’s agricultural industry. The updated strategy will be measurable, with action items, to capture new opportunities and support the long-term growth of the agriculture and agri-food sectors in Durham Region.
When: There will be three open house public consultation sessions on March 21 to provide input on the Agricultural Strategy (2019 to 2024).
Where: Public consultations will take place on March 21 at the following locations:

Why: Your input is important to guide the Region of Durham in updating the Region of Durham Agricultural Strategy 2013 to 2018 to support agricultural growth and succession. Industry stakeholders, businesses and local partners are invited to provide feedback at one of the open house public consultation sessions on March 21, or by completing the Agricultural Strategy Survey at durham.ca/Agriculture (available until April 1).
Note: Further consultation on the strategy update with the agriculture sector will be taking place in conjunction with the update to the Region’s Official Plan, through the Agriculture & Rural System Discussion Paper.
