Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of July 15 indicate that seven public beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has been advised by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks that a water sample collected on July 15 from Lake Scugog, near Platten Island, indicates the presence of blue-green algae in the area.

Until November, Durham Region’s roadway line painting operations are taking place primarily on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with occasional weekend and nighttime operations.

Whitby, Ontario – Today, the powerful new Virtual Home Energy Assessment Tool (vHEAT) is launching in Durham Region as part of the Durham Greener Homes Program. Using artificial intelligence (AI), vHEAT produces a digital energy score to help users understand how much energy their home consumes compared to homes of similar size, age, and type.
