Notice to property owners: Destroy noxious weeds

Notice is hereby given to all persons in possession of land, in accordance with the Weed Control Act, R.S.O. 1990 Chapter W.5, Sections 3, 16 and 23 that unless noxious weeds growing on their lands within The Regional Municipality of Durham are destroyed throughout the season, the Municipality may enter upon said lands and have the weeds destroyed, charging costs against the landowner, as set out in the Weed Control Act.

Whitby, Ontario – Building on the success of last year’s event, the Curbside Giveaway Day is back. Curbside Giveaway Day is an event organized in co-operation with the local area municipalities, where residents can place unwanted items in good condition—clearly marked as “Free”—on their curb for anyone to pick up. At the end of the Giveaway Day, residents return unclaimed items to their home.

Whitby, Ontario – Over the past four years, The Region of Durham, in collaboration with the Social Research Centre at Ontario Tech University, has been conducting surveys to learn more about residents’ understanding of nuclear emergency preparedness. Now in its final year, first time and returning participants are once again encouraged to take part in the survey.
