Big news for transit riders, commuters and communities across Durham Region—Metrolinx has officially broken ground on GO Transit’s Lakeshore East Extension to Bowmanville.

Recent road collisions have highlighted the serious risks first responders face every day—simply for doing their jobs. These events are a clear reminder that flashing lights on the shoulder are not an inconvenience—they are a warning that lives are at risk.

International Women’s Day 2026: Coming together to “balance the scales”
On March 3, the Region of Durham, along with local municipal and community partners, welcomed residents from across the region to its annual International Women’s Day celebration. This year’s theme, “balance the scales,” focused on the essential role that health and well‑being play in supporting women and girls.

Durham Region is proud to share that Service Durham (311) has been officially recognized as a Dementia Friendly Supporter by the Durham Alzheimer’s Society. This recognition reflects an ongoing commitment to creating a community where everyone feels understood, respected, and supported.
