The Blue Box program in Ontario is managed by Circular Materials. For more details, please visit Circular Materials.

Reporting missed garbage, green bin or yard waste pick up in Oshawa or Whitby? Contact your local municipality.

Waste collection may occur until 7 p.m. Please leave items at the curb until then. If your items have not been collected by 7 p.m., submit a missed waste pickup request. Bring items indoors overnight and place them back at the curb by 7 a.m. the next day and continue to follow these set-out guidelines between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. until collection occurs. Collection may take up to three business days, weather and holiday dependent.

Before reporting a missed pickup, check the list of common mistakes:

  • Late set out. Set your garbage and recycling out by 7 a.m.
  • Too heavy. Bags/bins should weigh no more than 20 kilograms (44 pounds) each.
  • More than four garbage bags/cans set out. Garbage bags/cans over the limit must have a bag tag.
  • Unacceptable material or materials not put in the correct bin.
  • Incorrect liner bags in the green bin. Use only 100 per cent compostable liner bags.
