Anyone can vote in a municipal election who, on the day of the election, is:
Your name must be on the voters’ list in order to cast a ballot. The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) provides the preliminary voters’ list to the area municipalities within the Region of Durham before the election. Not sure if you’re on the voters’ list? Check and update your municipal voter information at https://www.voterlookup.ca/.

Nomination and registration periods begin on May 2, 2022. New for 2022: In-person filing of Nominations will be by appointment, to ensure sufficient staff resources are available to assist candidates at the time of filing. How to Submit your Nomination: If you are submitting your nomination papers in person, contact us to make an appointment with the Election Team. If you wish to submit your nomination papers electronically, contact us to receive instructions for electronic submission. Important: Do not submit your nomination papers through email. Please note, regardless of which method you choose to submit your nomination material, you may not begin your campaign until you have submitted all required documents and paid the filing fee. Joint Compliance Audit Committee |
The Region of Durham is participating in a Joint Compliance Audit Committee with local municipalities for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections. After the election, the committee will hear requests for compliance audits of the financial statements submitted by candidates and registered third party advertisers. The committee will decide whether to order an audit of any financial statements to ensure that campaign finance rules have been followed.
