If you are less than 18 years old, you must wear a helmet while riding a bike. If you don't, you can get a $75 fine.
Does my helmet fit me properly?
To see if your helmet fits properly, use the 2-V-1 rule:

- Two fingers should fit above your eyebrow and below your helmet.
- Take two fingers, form a V around the ear meeting at the bottom of the ear lobe.
- One finger should fit between the strap and your chin.
Is my helmet safe?
Look for any of these safety stickers on your helmet:
- Canadian Safety Association (CSA)
- British Standards Institution (BSI)
- American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
- Snell
- American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
- Standards Association of Australia (SAA)

How can I stay safe?

- Put lights and reflectors on your bike to stay visible.
- Use a horn or bell to alert others.
- Use mirrors so you can see what is behind you.
- Protect your body. Wear kneepads, wrist guards, elbow pads and a helmet.
- Avoid riding your bike on major roads, in traffic or at night.
