Parenting Your Child and Positive Parenting
Healthy Babies Healthy Children
A home-based visiting program for Durham families
Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) is a home-based visiting program for families. Families that qualify are paired with a public health nurse and family visitor. You pick goals you would like to focus on during the program and create a plan together. Anyone can self-refer for our services. For eligible families, this may include a referral to our home visiting program.
Attachment is the deep and lasting connection that babies and children form with their parents. Strong attachment is an important part of your child's emotional well-being throughout their life.
Children who have secure attachment have an easier time:
- Exploring the world.
- Developing self-control.
- Handling different social situations.
- Learning how to trust other people.
Building healthy attachment
Attachment forms between parents and children when parents respond to their children's needs and children feel comforted by their parents.
