Child Immunization and School Clinics
Every time your child gets immunized you need to report it to Durham Region Health Department.
You can view or report immunizations online using the Immunization Connect Ontario (ICON) tool. ICON allows you to report and view your child's immunizations online any time. You can also attach a photo of the record.

Vaccine laws in Ontario help protect children who attend licensed child care centres and schools.
Diseases can spread quickly in child care centres and schools. Vaccines help your child develop immunity to prevent disease and limit spread to others.
Book a catch-up vaccine appointment
The following vaccines are available at Health Department community clinics in Pickering and Oshawa for eligible students in grades 7 to 12:
- Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis booster) - required for school, typically given at age 14 to 16 (every 10 years)
- Meningococcal-C-ACYW135 - required for school, typically given at students in grade 7 at school
- Hepatitis B - recommended but not required for school, typically given to students in grade 7 at school
- Human Papillomavirus - recommended but not required for school, typically given to students in grade 7 at school
If you have already started a vaccine series, it is not necessary to restart vaccination, but it is important to complete all the required doses.

Community catch-up clinics | ||||||||
The Health Department is providing community immunization clinics for eligible students in grades 7 to 12 Students in grade 7 to 12 are eligible to book an appointment at one of our clinics. The vaccines are free of charge. The following vaccines are being offered at the clinics currently:
Students who did not finish their vaccine series will only need to get the remaining dose(s). A vaccine series does not need to be restarted, even if the recommended time between doses has passed.
If you received a vaccine through your primary care provider or family doctor, the ICON system is not automatically updated. Please update your child’s vaccine record in ICON if they received a Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Hepatitis B (Hep B), Meningococcal C-ACYW135, or Tdap vaccine from a primary care provider or family doctor.
