Online Prenatal, Breastfeeding and Newborn Classes

Sign up for InJoy’s award winning online classes!

The classes cover everything you need to know about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and caring for your newborn. Providing the most up-to-date information, the easy to use sections and videos cover what to expect at prenatal appointments, common discomforts, how to time contractions, labour positions, latching, baby care and more.

What is covered in the classes?

There are five eClasses and two bonus sections.

eClasses

  1. Understanding pregnancy: covers changes during pregnancy, prenatal care, nutrition, physical activity, discomforts, hazards and emotions.
  2. Understanding birth: covers labour, birth stories, comfort techniques, medical procedures, caesarean births and postpartum topics.
  3. Understanding breastfeeding: covers how breastfeeding works, when to feed your baby, getting enough milk and breast care.
  4. Understanding your newborn: covers newborn behaviours, crying and comforting, diapering, bathing, nail care and dressing, and health and safety.
  5. Understanding natural childbirth techniques: covers birth plans, pain during labour, relaxation, mindfulness, and birth stories.

Bonus sections:

  • Canadian nutrition: covers eating well, important nutrients and supplements, and beverages. 
  • Understanding Durham Region supports and services: covers local programs, supports and services throughout Durham Region.

How to start the free online classes:

  1. Go to www.injoyonline.com and click CREATE ACCOUNT with InJoy Health Education.
  2. Enter your name, email and create a password.
  3. Enter the access code: durhambaby123 and click validate.
  4. Read the the Terms and Conditions and click complete.
  5. From the dashboard, view the eClasses: Understanding pregnancy, Understanding birth, Understanding breastfeeding, Understanding your newborn, Understanding natural childbirth techniques, Canadian nutrition and Durham Region supports and services.

Note: Your access code expires 12 months from the first time you access the classes. If you would like to sign up again, use the access code durham2baby123 and click “validate”.

Frequently asked questions
What do I need in order to view the online classes?
  • You will require a high speed internet connection on a Windows or Mac OS 10.5 or higher desktop, tablet or smartphone.
  • We recommend using the Google Chrome web browser for best results, however Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari are all supported. Please ensure you are using the most current version of the browser.

How do I use the online classes?

Each eClass takes about two to four hours to complete.

You have the freedom to start and end wherever you choose, and work through the chapters at your own speed. Material can be viewed as often as you wish over 12 months. There are fun quizzes and activities to help you learn along the way. You can invite a partner or support person to view some or all of the material with you or to take it themselves.

Are the classes available in other languages?

Yes! The online prenatal classes are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese. You can choose the language from your dashboard.
