The Community Healing Toolkit is a practical resource designed to support healing, resilience, and wellness across Durham Region.
Created for community leaders and ambassadors, this three-part resource offers trauma-informed and culturally affirming guidance for restoring well-being following a traumatic incident:
Part 1: Roots of resilience
Introduces concepts of community healing and provides step-by-step guidance for organizing healing activities, gatherings and events for affected individuals and groups. It also includes guidance on recognizing and responding to signs of distress.
Part 2: Honouring our journeys
Highlights important dates of commemoration and awareness that honour collective healing, remembrance and resilience. These observances are intended to create opportunities for reflection, education and community connection throughout the year.
Part 3: Pathways to care
Provides a directory of community-based resources and supports for individuals and families following a traumatic incident. This includes services related to mental health, health care, housing, food security, income support, safety, justice and legal support.
