Depending on your situation, you may be eligible for more benefits through Ontario Works.

To receive additional benefits, you must already be an Ontario Works client.

These are some of the benefits you could be eligible to receive:

Dental

Dependent children ages 17 and under are automatically enrolled in the Healthy Smiles Ontario dental care program. Adults more than 18 years of age who are receiving Ontario Works may qualify for assistance with dental coverage. Contact your Ontario Works Caseworker to learn more about the dental benefits available to you.

Prescription medication

You and your family can receive coverage for prescription drugs prescribed by an approved health care professional. Contact your Ontario Works Caseworker to learn more about the prescription drug benefits available to you.

 Vision

Eye examinations: The Ontario Health Insurance Program (OHIP) covers eye examinations for people who are under 20 years of age, or who are 65 years of age or older. If you are between the ages of 20 to 64, Ontario Works will cover the costs for routine eye examinations once every 24 months.

Vision care: You may be able to receive assistance to help pay for your vision care expenses, such as prescription eyeglasses and eyeglass repairs. Contact your Ontario Works Caseworker to learn more about the vision care benefits available to you.

Diabetic supplies, surgical supplies or dressings
If you have a prescription for these items and do not have any other coverage (e.g. from the Canadian Diabetes Association), you may qualify to receive assistance with these costs under Ontario Works. Contact your Ontario Works Caseworker to learn more about the medical benefits available to you.
Education
If you are pursuing, or actively participating in, education-related activities, you may qualify for assistance with expenses, such as registration fees and college/university application fees. Contact your Caseworker to learn more about the benefits available to you.
Recreation subsidy programs
Recreation cards are available to cover funding for recreational activities through the municipality where you live. Activities include camps and programming for you and your children. Contact your Ontario Works Caseworker to learn more about the recreation benefits available to you. Visit the low cost and subsidized recreation page for more information on additional subsidy programs.
Travel and transportation for medical purposes

If you need transportation funds to attend appointments for medical reasons, such as rehabilitation, routine medical appointments, counselling, etc., you may qualify for additional support with these expenses. Contact your Ontario Works Caseworker to learn more about the transportation benefits available to you.

Extended health benefits

If you no longer qualify for Ontario Works, but you require financial support with medical expenses, extended health benefits may be available for you. Contact your Ontario Works Caseworker to learn more about the health benefits available to you.
