The Regional Municipality of Durham's Child Care Fee Subsidy Program helps families, who live in the Durham Region, pay for licensed child care.
How do I get child care subsidy?
Application Form
To qualify, you must live in Durham Region and meet one of the following approved activities:
- Be working.
- Be going to school.
- Have a special or social need (parent or child).
- Receive Ontario Works (with a referral from your Ontario Works worker).
There are also financial criteria that must be met.
Process |
The wait list works on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once your form has been accepted, the following steps will take place:
- You will get a letter mailed to you showing your wait list date.
- When you reach the top of the wait list, we will send you an email asking you to submit paperwork. This information must be received within two weeks.
- Once paperwork is received, we will contact you to book an intake appointment.
To receive child care subsidy, you will need:
- Identification (ID) for everyone in your family.
- Revenue Canada Income Tax Notice of Assessment or Canada Child Tax Notice.
- Proof of address.
- Paystubs, a work letter, or school information showing a start and end date.
- Special or social needs form.
- Custody court order (if you have one).
We base the amount you pay for child care on your Revenue Canada Income Tax Notice of Assessment. An estimate of your daily parent fee can be found on the Daily Parent Fee Chart.
