Fully-funded 18-week Child Care Assistant Training Program for September 2023 with day program locations in Ajax and Oshawa.

This opportunity is funded in partnership with The Region of Durham, the Province of Ontario and Government of Canada under the new Canada-Ontario Early Childhood Workforce Agreement, which provides one-time federal funding to support the retention and recruitment of a high-quality child care and early years workforce.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) – Child Care Worker Stream

Commencing fall 2023, Durham College will be launching a new stream of the Early Childhood Education program (ECE-Childcare Worker Stream) designed for ECE assistants who are working in a child care program and early years environment. All classes, both on campus and online, will be held between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., allowing students who work in before- and after-school programs to complete their studies in between their daily shifts.

Students in the ECE-Childcare Worker Stream program will have the unique option of applying for an Ontario ECE Grant, which will cover tuition fees. The eligibility requirements for the grant are identical to those for the ECE-Childcare Worker Stream program.
